Newcastle ‘100%’ to sign forward after expert’s Wilson and Saint-Maximin news – pundit
Newcastle will be forced into the market for a striker after suffering injury blows to Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Magpies have lost their “cutting edge”.
According to the Daily Mail (28 December), Wilson and Saint-Maximin have suffered calf injuries, while Ryan Fraser has a hamstring problem.

Football Insider injury expert Ben Dinnery revealed on Thursday (30 December) that Wilson could miss four months of action.
However, he is more optimistic about Saint-Maximin’s return date.
Dwight Gayle and Joelinton, who has been playing in midfield, are the only recognised senior strikers in Newcastle’s arsenal.
Campbell warned that there is “nothing” for opposing defences to fear without Wilson and Saint-Maximin.
“Those two are the real cutting edge for Newcastle,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“They don’t function offensively without them – there’s nothing really for other teams to worry about.
“Joelinton did well the other day, but he’s in that new role, and it’s a big ask for him to carry that forward line on his own.
“I think they’ll definitely be active in the transfer window for attackers now, 100%. They have to, that’s for sure.”
Saint-Maximin has scored four goals and contributed four assists in 19 Premier League games this term.
The Magpies sit 19th in the top flight, two points adrift of 17th place Watford.

Wilson has been a beacon of hope for Newcastle so far this term, netting six goals in 15 league appearances.
The winter transfer window opens on 1 January.
