Newcastle could be on verge of ‘great signing’ after Guehi update – Agbonlahor

The reported Newcastle pursuit for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi would be a quality addition for the Magpies.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the England international would be a ideal acquisition for Eddie Howe going into next season.

According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle are keen to try and bring in the defender and are prepared to kick on their interest in Guehi, as it states that they are also ready to stump up a large amount of money to try and tempt Palace into business, with the Toon eyeing a £45m offer.

Arsenal have also recently (3 May) been linked with the England international as the summer window approaches.

Guehi, who cost Crystal Palace a reported fee of up to £20million, had impressed in 36 appearances across all competitions last season.

With a potential move on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that it is a deal Newcastle should look to explore.

“I think he fits into Newcastle’s system very well,” He told Football Insider.

“He is very good on the ball, and quick with with a lot of aggression so I think he would be a great signing.

“I really like him as he got into the England squad. He is ahead of Fikayo Tomori under Gareth Southgate, so it will mean that he won’t be cheap and will cost Newcastle a lot of money.”
