'Deserve to go down', 'That's a record' - Newcastle fans rage after key update in transfer hunt

Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to rage over news that the club are set to miss out on Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge to Premier League rivals West Brom.
The Magpies looked as though they might stand a chance of securing the services of the England international as he was made available on loan by the Reds, according to the Newcastle Chronicle, with manager Rafael Benitez looking to bolster his forward line with a move from his former club.
However it appears that the north east club have let a swoop for Sturridge slip through their fingers, with the Guardian claiming that West Brom have secured a £1.5million loan deal for the striker’s signing with the Merseyside club, and the key update that he is on his way to the Hawthorns to undergo a medical on Monday.
The disappointment of missing out on yet another transfer target resulted in Newcastle fans turning to Twitter to voice their frustrations, with blame firmly pointed at owner Mike Ashley and the club’s recruitment team, who have only brought in one player this month in the form of a loan for Chelsea winger Kenedy.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

The Magpies have until Wednesday to bring in any further reinforcements, with moves for Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Victoria Plzen forward Michael Krmencik mooted in the final days of the January window.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, the club should be targeting this international goal machine in red hot form to strengthen their attack.
