‘All ova the place’ – Newcastle fans rage over one man’s first half v Brighton

Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to rage over the first half performance of American international DeAndre Yedlin in their clash against Brighton on Saturday.

The Magpies went into the half time break level with the Seagulls, in an opening half bereft of chances for either side at St James’ Park.

Fleet footed right back Yedlin retained his place in the starting XI despite Rafael Benitez choosing to make seven changes from the club’s clash against Manchester City, which saw the Magpies slip to a 1-0 defeat despite a spirited performance.

However, having managed to limit the runaway league leaders to just one goal on Wednesday, fans were less than impressed with what they saw from the speed machine, taking to Twitter to slam his display in the opening 45 minutes.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

The right back has been a regular feature for Benitez since recovering from an injury at the start of the season, and has appeared in every one of the club’s last 17 league matches, chipping in with one solitary assist.

The Magpies have picked up just a solitary win in their last 11 matches, the 3-2 win over West Ham meaning that they have picked up just four points from a possible 33.
