Newcastle insider delivers Alexander Isak update following Nick Woltemade breakthrough
An update has been issued on the future of Alexander Isak following Newcastle’s agreement to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade.
Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle, and he has not partaken in the club’s opening two Premier League fixtures, even though the club have stated he is not for sale.
Liverpool have had a bid rejected worth £110million for Isak, and the Reds are currently the only club in the running to sign the 25-year-old.
Newcastle have been unsuccessful until now in signing a striker amid Isak’s absence with Wolves rejecting a bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen from the Toon most recently.

Callum Wilson’s departure as a free agent at the end of last season has left Newcastle with only William Osula as a natural striker available for selection for Eddie Howe.
Anthony Gordon’s red card against Liverpool increased the pressure on Howe to sign a natural number nine and, as per Luke Edwards [28 August] an agreement of £75m has been reached for 23-year-old Woltemade.
Due to the deal though Edwards states there is “no money left for Newcastle to sign a second striker,” and the only possibility to raise a large amount of funds would be to sell Isak.
Edwards believes Liverpool will return with a second bid for Isak, and even with the expected arrival of Woltemade nothing has changed in regards to the Swedish international.

The capture of Woltemade will be of relief for Howe who will now have a proven Bundesliga goal scorer among his ranks.

Newcastle’s opening league fixtures have showed their need of a striker, with the Isak saga hitting the club hard both on and off the pitch.
Woltemade cannot be expected to take the mantle from Isak immediately and a second striker is still being sourced, though who they can now afford may be the hurdle Howe needs to overcome.
Selling Isak would be the quickest way to generate needed funds though Newcastle are not budging on their not for sale stance or £150m valuation, making a deal difficult for Liverpool.
With just four days of the transfer window left this saga looks to be continuing until the very last moment.
