Newcastle insider gives clearest indication yet of what’s next for Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak could be allowed to make a stunning return to the Newcastle squad amid the striker’s ongoing transfer saga.
Isak has told Newcastle of his desire to leave the club this summer, and he was not involved in the Toon’s opening Premier League fixture at Aston Villa.
Premier League champions Liverpool have expressed an interest in Isak, but have had a bid of £110million rejected by Newcastle.
Newcastle have failed in attempts to sign Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, with the former joining Manchester United and the latter Liverpool.

Isak could be welcomed back into Newcastle squad
Amid Eddie Howe’s struggles to sign a striker, and having let Callum Wilson leave at the expiry of his contract, Newcastle travelled to Villa Park without a recognised number nine.
There still seems to be hope though that Isak could return to the Newcastle squad.

Luke Edwards [19 August], stated in a post on X that it was “far better to keep Isak and reintegrate,” the striker back into the Newcastle team rather than purchase a player that the club do not want.
Newcastle have seemed reluctant to target Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson because he is not “the same calibre” of player as Isak.
Howe must concentrate on signings amid Isak saga

Football Insider Verdict
It would be sensational if Howe could reintegrate Isak back into the Newcastle squad as the striker does not appear interested to play for the club again.
The Toon are desperate for any striker right now but bringing Isak back into the team doesn’t seem a viable option for Howe right now.
Howe needs to focus on bringing players into the club as the Toon were forced into playing Anthony Gordon up-front against Villa.
Gordon threatened in-behind and got Ezri Konsa sent off, but it was clear Newcastle looked devoid of options in attack.
Brentford’s Yoane Wissa appears desperate to force a move to Newcastle, and Howe should be completing a deal for the proven Premier League goal scorer.
Newcastle have Liverpool next and despite the Reds showing signs of defensive fragility at times against Bournemouth, it is hard to see where the Toon goals will come from in the encounter.
