Another frustrating day at the office for Joselu, who found chances at a real premium on the south coast.
He cannot be accused of not working hard for the team, as he worked the channels as well as offering a focal point for the Magpies’ attack, but it just was not enough to penetrate the Brighton defence.
His place in the starting XI will be under serious threat with Dwight Gayle itching for a chance to shine, and Benitez has a difficult decision to make ahead of next week’s clash with Liverpool.
