DeAndre Yedlin – 7
Retaining his place in the starting XI after returning from injury against Stoke, Yedlin was unable to demonstrate his attacking threat early on as Brighton pegged the Magpies back.
His pace was crucial in covering the flanks but he would have liked to utilised that pushing forward instead of hassling the Brighton players.
Still, he dealt with the Seagulls’ left sided attackers competently, and showed impressive temperament not to react to an angry Tomer Hemed with 20 minutes to play.
