Like Lascelles, the Republic of Ireland international has been a rock at the back for Newcastle but his usual calm composure was absent at times against the Seagulls.
He was guilty of giving away possession at the back while Brighton were able to exploit his lack of pace to break through the Newcastle back line.
However his position in the starting XI is unlikely to come under threat, despite the imminent return of Florian Lejeune to fitness.
