With Benitez still lacking a natural left back, Benitez has entrusted the role to Chancel Mbemba over recent weeks, who has shown an aptitude on the left flank.
While it was not a shining performance from the Democratic Republic of Congo international, he was solid for the majority of the game, even offering an attacking outlet on the left flank.
However, he will be disappointed to have found himself floored during the set play from which Brighton scored their opener.
