Newcastle player ratings v Brighton: Key man impresses with 7/10 in defeat
Isaac Hayden – 5

The ball winning midfielder had a real off day against the Seagulls, as he failed to dominate as he so usually does in the centre of the park .
Partnered alongside Mikel Merino, neither seemed to be able to control the game, although Hayden struggled more than the Spaniard.
With Jonjo Shelvey, who replaced Hayden from the substitute’s bench, breathing down his neck for a place in the starting XI, fans will have to wait and see whether Hayden continues to retain his place.
