Jacob Murphy – 6
Despite Christian Atsu returning to fitness and finding himself on the bench, it was Murphy who was preferred on the left flank, looking to continue his impressive performances in what has been a dark spell for the club.
He used his pace and direct approach to offer a threat against Leicester during the opening stages, and was denied his first ever Newcastle goal by the outstretched palm of Kasper Schmeichel just after the half hour mark.
He seemed to lack any impact in the second half though, and found himself replaced by Ayoze Perez with 20 minutes to play.
