Still in the starting line up ahead of Rob Elliot, this was his third successive appearance for the Magpies, which is an impressive rise from looking set to depart the club over the summer.
However it was not the brightest of starts for the former Nottingham Forest man, who would have been expected to do much more to try and deny Riyad Mahrez’s equaliser for Leicester.
He looked uncertain between the sticks and his distribution forward left much to be desired, while there was little he could do for the second or third goals, wrong footed by the deflection off Florian Lejeune before Ayoze Perez poked past him.
