Newcastle player ratings v Manchester City: Duo star with 8/10 displays, one man anonymous

Mo Diame – 4: Fresh from scoring against former club West Ham, Diame found himself lining up next to two different team mates against City. In all honesty he was an anonymous bystander, failing to offer anything going forward while having very little impact in defence.
Jonjo Shelvey – 6: Back into the first team after his two match suspension for his red card, the midfielder was tasked with offering the creative flair from the centre of the park alongside two enforcers. When he had the ball, his vision was crucial into creating the few opportunities created. Unfortunately, the Magpies saw very little of possession and his impact was muted.
