Newcastle player ratings v Manchester United: One man weak link in outstanding team display

Goalkeeper and defenders

Martin Dubravka – 9: The Slovakian international, who arrived at St James’ Park on deadline day in January, was thrown straight into the deep end after appearing on the bench against Crystal Palace. However he showed no nerves from the first minute, and was full of confidence in denying the Red Devils goal scoring chances. An impressive start, and he will have to keep it up for the rest of the season.
DeAndre Yedlin – 5: Torn to pieces by Alexis Sanchez during the first 45 minutes, the only thing the American had going for him was his pace, which rescued him on more than occasion. A weak link at the back.
Jamaal Lascelles – 7: A commanding presence in the heart of defence, he marshalled his back line well and led from the front. However, as with all his team mates, was bullied by the raw power of Romelu Lukaku.
Florian Lejeune- 8: Back into the starting XI after missing out through injury, he showed good composure throughout the clash, but his strength and pace was tested to its full by the Manchester United forward line. Pulled off a sensational stop to deny Alexis Sanchez.
Paul Dummett – 7: Newcastle’s Mr Reliable right now, fans know what to expect from the Welshman. A resolute defensive showing without much pushing forward.
