Newcastle player ratings v Southampton: 26-year-old facing the axe after horror show

Back into the starting XI after his injury against Tottenham on the opening day, the 26-year-old could see himself straight back out for their next fixture.
While he made a solid start on his return from injury (having not started since the opening day against Tottenham), he looked like he could cope with the pace and intensity of the Premier League.
However, the second half changed that, and a truly lazy tackle handed Southampton a penalty and lost Newcastle the three points.
He may claim tiredness and a lack of fitness as an excuse, which would be totally viable and understandable considering his layoff, but why was he given the full 90 minutes?
Ciaran Clark was rested after his international duties, and there will be a straight fight between the duo for a spot in the starting XI.
