Newcastle player ratings v Southampton: 26-year-old facing the axe after horror show

Credit where credit is due to Jonjo Shelvey, he already looks like he has learned his lesson after being sent off against Tottenham earlier in the season.
Southampton appeared to look to rile the Newcastle midfielder up but he did not rise to it, avoiding making any needless challenges and staying out of controversy.
As for his performance, it was impressive, as he worked the ball through the midfield for his team mates.
His passing perhaps was not as crisp and accurate as usual, but he still found his target nine times out of ten.
It would appear that the former Liverpool man is back in the Magpies midfield and set to stay, which can only be a boost for the club’s chances this season.
