Newcastle player ratings v Swansea: Attackers chalk and cheese as one man has 5/10 shocker
Midfielders
Jonjo Shelvey – 6: Up against his former side, the midfield maestro was not as influential as he has proven himself to be in the centre of the park. His passing contribution was solid but nothing to write home, while he did not create too many chances going forward. However, was working as hard as he ever has, which was a big plus to his final mark.
Mohamed Diame – 6: The powerful midfielder looks like he could run for days, but unfortunately for Newcastle he does not run fast enough. His physical presence in the midfield did help break up Swansea attacks now and then, but really saw the majority of the game pass him by.
Matt Ritchie – 6: Many Newcastle fans will be wondering what has happened to Ritchie in recent weeks, as he has not looked the same creative presence he used to. He once again struggled to impose himself down the right flank.
Christian Atsu – 6: The Ghanaian speed machine made a bright start to proceedings but found himself lacking any impact as the game progressed.
