When Ritchie has a bad game, Newcastle tend to struggle, and that trend continued yet again on Saturday.
He tried and tried, as he always does, but there was no end product from the Scottish international, whose best chance came with a well struck effort early on in the clash.
What Newcastle need to do is figure a way to bring him into games and make him a more effective outlet, for at the moment, he is cutting a forlorn figure on the right flank.
