Newcastle player ratings v West Brom: Attacker will never play for Benitez again in 4/10 display
Goalkeeper and defenders
Martin Dubravka – 7: Could do very little for Matt Phillips’ strike, and was forced to pull off a number of saves throughout. Could have been more without him between the sticks.
DeAndre Yedlin – 6: A potent threat going forward, the American was lacking in the defensive know how as the Baggies took full advantage. A liability at the back but with few options to pick from, is first choice by default.
Jamaal Lascelles – 6: While little got past him in the air, it was when the ball was on the floor that Newcastle looked weakest, and Lascelles was among those struggling to deal with it. A disappointing day at the office.
Florian Lejeune- 7: The Frenchman actually outshone his defensive partner as he showed good pace and positioning to keep West Brom from scoring more than just once.
Paul Dummett – 6: Newcastle’s mister reliable came unstuck before the half hour mark, finding himself caught out of position for Jake Livermore’s ball which dissected the defence for Phillips’ opener. Axed before the hour mark for Jacob Murphy.
