Newcastle player ratings v West Brom: Attacker will never play for Benitez again in 4/10 display

Substitutes

Jacob Murphy (58′) – 5: Given over half an hour to try and make the difference, the former Norwich man struggled to impose himself despite his pace and flair. His lack of physicality is a massive issue and something which has to be addressed in the summer – for he will never make it at this level without it.

Islam Slimani (65′) – 4: Newcastle fans may have seen the last of the Algerian after a kick out at a West Brom defender was missed by the officials. His petulance summed up Newcastle’s day, when he failed to have any sort of impact from the bench. A retrospective ban should, and probably will, be incoming.

Joselu (77′) – 5: Brought on as another body up front, the Spaniard was unable to have the desired effect and really should have done better with five minutes left to play, heading wide when he needed to be testing Ben Foster.
