Newcastle player ratings v West Ham: Duo star with 8/10 displays in victory

Midfielders

Mo Diame – 6: Brought in with both Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden out of action, he finally demonstrated why he has been utilised at times by Benitez this season. His physicality helped dominate in the centre of the pitch, and managed to find the back of the net against his old side with a well take finish.

Henri Saivet – 6: With one League Cup appearance to his name this season, the 27-year-old was a surprise name among the starting XI. He showed his nerves after six minutes, gifting the Hammers the opener with a poor pass, before equalising with a well taken free kick. A good performance in Newcastle’s time of need.

Matt Ritchie – 7: Looking back to his best after a series of poor displays, the Scottish winger was a thorn in the side of West Ham’s defence. He is the creative outlet which offers so much from the flanks and even threatened the goal himself, hitting the post with a shot.

Christian Atsu – 8: The speed machine was one of the Magpies’ star performers at the London Stadium, terrorising the Hammers with his pace down the left flank. He managed to net himself after a swift counter attack which he himself launched.
