Newcastle powerless after Alexander Isak to Liverpool claim made: ‘Uproar’
Newcastle United could be left powerless if a huge offer comes in for Alexander Isak with the striker’s future at the club still up in the air.
Premier League champions Liverpool are one of numerous clubs interested in signing Isak this summer.
The Swedish international scored 27 goals in all competitions last season for the Toon as they secured Champions League football and won a major trophy for the first time in 56 years.
Isak is seen as one of the best strikers in world football right now, and it would take a huge bid to convince Newcastle to let him go.

Liverpool could ‘send out a message’ with Isak signing
Speaking on talksport (19 June), Jamie O’Hara asked fellow pundit Jason Cundy whether £120 million would be enough to sign the striker if Liverpool tabled a bid
Cundy believes the club would be mad not to accept such a huge offer, as they would have doubled their money on the £63m they spent to sign the striker in 2022.
The former Premier League centre-back doesn’t think there would be uproar among supporters if such an offer was to be received and accepted.
“I don’t think there would be uproar, that will smash the British transfer record,” Cundy said.
“Imagine if Liverpool could pull of the two biggest transfers in British football history and they are sitting top of the table, that would send out a message.”
Cundy states that no one from Newcastle will want to let Isak leave the club, but claims “that is not how football works.
“If Liverpool come knocking, they were champions last season, and they’re going to take some stopping again this season, so if you’re Isak and you know they are prepared to make you one of the highest paid players in European football, which they have to do on that price tag, it’s a tough one for him not to get excited about,” Cundy said.
Toon could be tempted to sell with PSR rules at play
Football Insider verdict
If Newcastle were to receive a bid in the region of £120m, the club would have to seriously consider selling their star striker.
Isak has made a phenomenal impact on Tyneside since joining from Real Sociedad, with his goal in the League Cup final helping defeat Liverpool and win the club a major trophy.
Appearances | 109 |

With Florian Wirtz expected to sign for over £100m, the Reds may not be able to afford another huge money signing, but with Darwin Nunez linked with a move away, an offer for Isak cannot be ruled out.
Losing the Swede would be a blow to Eddie Howe, but the funds generated would be beneficial in the transfer market.
Last summer, the club were forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh due to PSR rules, and even though the situation isn’t as bleak this time around, Howe would want money to be able to improve his squad.
Howe will surely be looking at another striker either way as Callum Wilson will leave the club at the end of the month when his contract expires.
