‘Some talent’, ‘Out of his mind’ – Newcastle rave over one man’s first half v Manchester City

Newcastle United fans have turned to social media to rave over the first half performance of Rolando Aarons in the club’s clash against Manchester City.

The Magpies went into half time 1-0 down thanks to Raheem Sterling’s opening goal, poking past Rob Elliot at his near post after a well worked move from City.

However, despite going in behind, the Newcastle fans were impressed with what they saw from winger Aarons, who was a surprise name in the starting XI with first team regulars Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie both on the bench.

The Jamaican speed machine saw an audacious chip cleared off the line in Newcastle’s best opportunity of the opening 45 minutes, and fans took to Twitter to voice their admiration at his efforts.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

The Magpies came into the clash having picked up their first win in 10 games with a 3-2 victory away at West Ham, with their winless run having seen them secure a solitary point from a possible 27.

City meanwhile have been in imperious form this season, having yet to be beaten in the Premier League while notching up 17 straight wins, most recently a 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, to build a 12 point lead at the top of the table prior to kick off.
