Newcastle stars react to Elliot Anderson’s ‘incredible’ Nottingham Forest message
Elliot Anderson has gained the attention of his former Newcastle United teammates as the Nottingham Forest star took to social media with a new message.
Newcastle fans have been blown away by Anderson since his St James’ Park exit last season, boasting two goals and six assists in 37 matches and becoming an integral part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
The Reds have experienced an incredible campaign under the former Tottenham and Wolves boss, reaching the FA Cup semi-finals and fighting for Champions League qualification.
Anderson is, undoubtedly, a vital part of Forest’s team this season, but despite his expertise in the centre of midfield, they were unable to beat Pep Guardiola‘s Man City to the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
Goals from Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol were enough to sink the Reds on Sunday, 27 April, but one of Forest’s stars chose to take a positive mindset from the defeat on social media.
Elliot Anderson continues incredible form for Nottingham Forest
Taking to Instagram (29 April), Anderson wrote: “Incredible feeling walking out at Wembley. Just fell short but there’s 5 finals to go,” with heart and tree emojis.
The post gained the attention of teammates Neco Williams, Ola Aina and Murillo, with Newcastle duo Kieran Trippier and Jacob Murphy also liking the message.
Nuno Espirito Santo working wonders at The City Ground
Football Insider verdict
Espirito Santo has already overachieved as Forest boss this season, with his side fighting for a spot in the Champions League next season and almost reaching a domestic final.
It is no surprise that Forest are trying to tie Espirito Santo down to a new deal, even after his poor endings to attempts at management with Wolves and Spurs in recent seasons.
Premier League standings | Points |
3. Newcastle United | 62 |
4. Man City | 61 |
5. Chelsea | 60 |
6. Nottingham Forest | 60 |
7. Aston Villa | 57 |
The team could be massively split up this summer, however, so it is important that the Reds make the very most of the final four games of the campaign before the transfer window swings open.
Chris Wood is unlikely to replicate his current season again, and with Morgan Gibbs-White being targeted by Man City, it could be tough to turn down any big-money approaches.
Of course, this would help bring major signings to The City Ground ahead of the 2025/26 season, but fans might have to accept that some of their favourite players might move away without Champions League football.
