Newcastle tipped to complete at least two signings today after £25m Hugo Ekitike update – pundit
Newcastle will be “busy” right up to today’s transfer deadline and will bring in two loan signings, according to Frank McAvennie.
The former West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Magpies can be an “option” for out-of-favour stars as clubs look to find them new clubs in the final day of the window.
This site revealed today (31 January) that Newcastle are working on a £25million beat-the-deadline deal to sign 19-year-old Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.

A Magpies source has told Football Insider that Eddie Howe’s side are now holding talks over a late move for the Frenchman, with West Ham also interested.
Newcastle also still have two domestic loan slots available going into the final day of the winter window.
McAvennie claimed the relegation-threatened side will be looking to fill that quota.
“Deadline day is when you will see things start to happen,” he told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“When clubs are running around trying to offload players, Newcastle can be that option.
“They will only sign decent players, I’m sure.
“Their signings have been great so far, I’ve been impressed. I think they will be busy right up until the deadline.
“I’ve talked about loan signings and I think they will fill those two loan spots. So there’s at least two and probably more.
“With the money these guys have, who knows who might arrive?”
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope (30 January), there is “a strong chance” of Man United goalkeeper Dean Henderson joining the Magpies on loan before today’s deadline.

Newcastle have already completed the captures of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, and Chris Wood this month.
Howe’s side sit 19th in the Premier League.
