Newcastle tipped to pull off ‘unbelievable’ Martial deal after ‘massive’ development – pundit

Newcastle could sign Anthony Martial in January after it was revealed he wants to leave Man United.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after an injury update on Callum Wilson.

Injury expert and Football Insider pundit Ben Dinnery claimed Callum Wilson could miss four months of action after picking up an injury against Man United on Monday (27 December).

This leaves Dwight Gayle as the Magpies’ only senior striker.

As quoted by Sky Sports (27 December) Ralf Rangnick has confirmed Martial, 26, had asked to leave in January.

Kenny claims the Man United attacker, who signed in 2015 for a deal worth up to £62million, could join Newcastle thanks to their newfound finances.

“Martial wants out, we all know that,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Newcastle are on the lookout for a new striker. Would he come to Newcastle?

“Money talks and they have plenty of money now. I don’t think you can rule out anyone.

“It’s a massive club. I know it’s North and people say it puts players off.

“But look at that game against Man United. The atmosphere was unbelievable.

“That was just from me watching it on the TV. If they could get martial that would be a massive coup and maybe that’s what he needs.

“A run of games as an out and out striker could be what he needs to get his career back on track.”
