Newcastle tipped to sign five players in January after Staveley reveal – Campbell
Newcastle United could sign four or five new players in January after Amanda Staveley revealed the club’s stance on the window.
That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the inherent need for reinforcements at St. James’ Park.
As quoted by the Chronicle on October 26th, Staveley claimed the winter window is “not the best time” to make new signings.

However, it is understood the Magpies are making preparations ahead of January, despite the absence of a permanent manager and sporting director.
As revealed by Football Insider (October 28th), Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is a firm target.
Moves for Wolves defender Conor Coady and Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba are also being considered.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Staveley’s comments, Campbell said:
“Staveley might say they are going to be cautious in January but what is cautious for those owners? That’s the question.
“A limited window for them could be signing four or five quality players. Four of five quality players in that squad will make a massive difference.
“I think there will be a high turnover of players over the next two, two-and-a-half years.

“They want to be up there, they want to challenge and they have the money to do it.
“Let’s be honest, there is not enough quality in that squad. It is imperative they stay in the Premier League so they have to make signings in January.”
