Newcastle tipped to wrap up Dominic Calvert-Lewin deal ‘very quickly’ after source update – pundit
Newcastle United have a clear path to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Arsenal prioritise other targets.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the magpies’ hunt for a new striker.
The main competition for the striker’s signature has been Arsenal but they are prioritising the capture of Gabriel Jesus from Man City and making progress on a deal.

On 14 May, Football Insider revealed talks have taken place with the 25-year-old’s representatives as Newcastle make their pitch to lure him to the north-east.
Kenny is backing Eddie Howe’s side to complete a deal now Arsenal are looking elsewhere.
“It looks like the path is clear for Newcastle to get that deal done,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I guess if they want to move with Arsenal looking elsewhere, they want to get that done very quickly.
“If Arsenal don’t sign who they want then they could easily come back in for Calvert-Lewin.
“So if they want to make sure this deal happens they need to get it done.
“I have said before, I think he will be a great signing for them. He and Callum Wilson are two great options to have.“

Calvert-Lewin spent the majority of the 2021-22 Premier League season injured.
He made 17 appearances and scored five goals with his last strike keeping Everton in the Premier League during a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace (19 May).
