Newcastle to complete ‘top’ Kieran Tierney transfer after source’s reveal – pundit
Kieran Tierney would be the perfect transfer for Newcastle in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie believes that Arsenal should allow the Scotsman to make the switch to St James Park.
Football Insider revealed last month (6 July) that the Scotland international is set to hold a conversation with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to finalise whether or not he will stay at the Emirates.
He is a top target for the Magpies, as first revealed by Football Insider in February, and has also been on the radar of Man City and Aston Villa.
With a potential transfer on the cards, McAvennie believes that Newcastle must secure another signing at left-back and Tierney would be the ideal choice.
“Tierney is a top player,” he told Football Insider.
“But I do believe if he went to Newcastle, he would be a God up there, honestly, because they love that player who rolls his sleeves up and just gets stuck in and, it’s an old fashioned team with an old fashioned player with a lot quality, which is very rare nowadays.
“So as a left back, I would say Newcastle would, they’re not doing better than him, that’s for sure.

“The only problem, to be honest is the injuries.
“If you can get that sorted out, then you’ve got one hell of a player, so it is a deal that Newcastle must look to get over the line.”
