Newcastle told to complete left-back signing after deal agreed – Agbonlahor

Newcastle would benefit from another defensive signing this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Newcastle will need strengthen in the defensive areas after qualifying for the Champions League.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday (4 August) that Newcastle still want two more signings following the capture of Tino Livramento

Newcastle’s summer spree is not over despite Livramento taking their summer spending to more than £130m after the signings of Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes.

Football Insider revealed last month (6 July) that Kieran Tierney is set to hold a conversation with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to finalise whether or not he will stay at the Emirates.

He is a top target for Newcastle United, as first revealed by Football Insider in February, and has also been on the radar of Man City and Aston Villa.

With a potential deal on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that qualification for the Champions League means that Newcastle would benefit from an addition defensive signing.

“I would go and get a left-back if it is possible,” he told Football insider.

“Dan Burn has shown that he is a talented defender, but when you go to bigger away venues in Europe and the Champions League you want to go into it with a better option than Burn.

“I think a right-back who can play both positions would work for Newcastle, but their squad is already strong enough to compete in Europe.”
