Newcastle told to complete Leonardo Bonucci signing after unexpected twist – Agbonlahor
Newcastle should look to sign Leonardo Bonucci on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Italian defender would be a useful acquisition for the Magpies.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, a move to Newcastle would be more appealing to the centre-back than a transfer to Saudi Arabia amid interest.
It has been claimed that a meeting has already taken place between Newcastle and Bonucci’s representatives to discuss a potential move, however, Newcastle have not made any concrete offer to try and sign the defender this summer.
Bonnuci has one-year remaining on his contract at Juventus, but the Italian side are open to let him leave this summer, and could even terminate his currently deal according to the report by Calcimercato.
With a potential move to Newcastle on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that a player of Bonucci’s calibre could be just what Eddie Howe needs.
“He can come in when needed and he will bring Newcastle experience,” He told Football Insider.
“On a free transfer, wow, I think he will be a quality signing as he has winning mentality, so they should look to get a deal over the line.

“You can still bring him and sign another defender to help with Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar.
“He can also play the cup games aswell, so he would be a very useful incoming this summer.
