Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa race to sign Brentford star in January
Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa will likely struggle to sign Igor Thiago in January unless an offer “too good to turn down” comes in for the forward.
Emerging as one of the best strikers in the Premier League right now, Thiago is certainly on Newcastle’s agenda ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The eye-catching goalscoring performances have also put Thiago on Tottenham’s radar as they desperately seek to resolve their conversion issues up front.
Similarly, former Man United senior scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for Thiago in January, joining a trifecta of English top-flight sides vying for his signature.

Igor Thiago set to be the hottest property in the frosty January transfer window
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Bees will be eager to hold on to their star striker.
Keith Andrews’ efficient poacher has been in electric form and could lead to Thiago getting a surprise call-up for Brazil for the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over Brentford‘s reluctant stance to let the ex-Club Brugge man go, I explained: “I don’t see anything happening in January with Thiago.
“I can’t imagine Brentford would want to sell Thiago in the January transfer, not unless it’s an offer which is too good to turn down. He’s been superb for them this season so far.

“Second top goalscorer in the league behind Erling Haaland. He’s got 11 goals in 14 games for Brentford this season which is brilliant going by anybody’s running, so luck right now I’m sure is for him.
“For Brentford, in the Premier League, he has caught the eye of some of the bigger clubs. The likes of Newcastle, Tottenham have been mentioned, Villa have also been credited with an interest in the Brazilian so that doesn’t surprise me in that respect.
“I don’t think it’s a priority for Newcastle right now to bring in another striker, obviously Woltemade has made a decent impact since his arrival.”
Newcastle to contemplate Joe Willock exit in January
Whilst the Magpies may wait to pounce on Thiago, given their abundance of options up front, attention will also be turned to offloading unwanted stars in the upcoming transfer window.

Sources told Football Insider that Joe Willock is open to a potential move to Crystal Palace in January.
The Englishman has battled with injuries during his five seasons on Tyneside and may be allowed to leave to join the Eagles.
The ex-Arsenal midfielder has one-year-and-a-half left on his contract and the Toon could look to cash in on their number 28 sooner rather than later.
