Report makes surprising revelation which has ruled Newcastle star out of crucial fixtures

Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu will miss out on Ghana’s crucial World Cup qualifying matches after carrying an injury for the last three weeks, according to a report.

The Chronicle claim on their website that the fleet footed forward has been dealing with a niggling injury and that he was advised to pull himself out of the international squad by the club.

It is reported that Atsu has been suffering with the injury for the past three weeks, which will come as a surprise as he has started in all but one of the club’s seven league fixtures.

That includes three fixtures over the past three weeks, in which he has started and played the full 90 minutes against Stoke, Brighton and Liverpool.

He has been one of the Magpies’ top performers this season, impressing with his ability on the left flank, scoring once and picking up another assist.

However Ghana will have to do without his talents as they look to secure a crucial victory over Uganda which would keep them in contention in qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Russia.

They currently sit third in their group, four points behind group leaders Egypt with two matches left to play, which will come against second placed Ghana and the Pharaohs.
