Newcastle United backed to complete Chelsea player signing amid ‘big’ claim – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Newcastle United could land at least one Chelsea star in the January window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Chelsea wouldn’t be willing to sell three of their players to Premier League rivals.

According to the Telegraph (16 January), the Magpies are exploring the possibility of signing Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek as well as Hakim Ziyech this month.

It is believed Potter would be reluctant to lose Gallagher and Loftus-Cheek given the Blues’ injury problems but could let Ziyech leave Stamford Bridge.

Ziyech and Gallagher’s contracts both run until 2025 whereas Loftus-Cheek’s deal expires in 2024.

Hutton insisted it is unlikely all three would quit this month.

I would be surprised if they let all three go,” he told Football Insider.

I think Ziyech had a good World Cup, his form has not been what they would like at Chelsea. That one I do not think they would mind with the players that they have brought in to cover that.

Gallagher would be a great signing. I know he has been in and about the first team, he has played his part, he is excellent at Crystal Palace. If Newcastle could bring someone like that in I think he could really kick them on.

Even Loftus-Cheek, I think they are good signings. Premier League players, have played at a big club, know how to play under pressure.

If they could get it done I think it would be a great deal but I would be surprised if all three went.

In other news, Newcastle United have been told to complete multiple last-gasp signings – ‘I can see it happening’, says pundit.
