Newcastle United backed to complete marquee signing after source’s update – pundit
Newcastle United could announce one more signing before the transfer window closes.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the magpies’ recruitment.
Newcastle confirmed the signing of Alexander Isak, 22, from Real Sociedad in a club-record deal on Friday (26 August), amid fears over Calum Wilson’s latest layoff.
On 24 August, Football Insider revealed the Magpies had placed a £25million bid for Rennes attacker Martin Terrier.
Kenny expects another singing will arrive even after the club broke the bank to sign Isak.
“Well, we know they have the money to go out and get a couple more players before the window closes if they need them,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“After that game against Cuty last weekend, there are two things you can do. You can say ‘we have a good enough squad to compete with City, or you can say ‘why don’t we made some singings and get even better?’.
“That is what Newcastle have to decide right now but I expect it will be a busy end to the transfer window for them.
“I think they will be focusing on getting players but maybe we will see another player come in to boost their options.”

Isak joins after scoring six La Liga goals in 32 appearances last season.
He could make his debut against Wolves on Sunday (28 August).
In other news, a pundit has claimed Newcastle United could seal a ‘great’ deal for Jack Harrison after source’s new update.
