Newcastle United backed to re-sign Ivan Toney after journalist’s £40m update – pundit
Paul Robinson has urged Newcastle United to re-sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper said the 26-year-old “is a top player” who would thrive in Eddie Howe’s attack.
According to inews‘ Mark Douglas (18 July), Brentford are extremely reluctant to allow Toney to leave the club this summer after an impressive debut Premier League campaign.

The Bees would apparently demand a fee of around £40million to consider selling the centre-forward, who is of interest to Man United, Newcastle and Leeds.
Toney has three years remaining on his contract at the Brentford Community Stadium.
When asked by Football Insider if the Magpies should splash out to re-sign the striker, Robinson said: “Toney is a very good player.
“He is yet to take the Premier League by storm but his opportunities were limited last season. He did not get the amount of chances he did in the Championship.
“In the Championship you get more games and the level of opposition was not as good so he was getting more chances. He is a top player though and I have no doubt that he can do it at the top level.

“If Newcastle are looking at him, he would be a great signing for them.
“The players they have in behind. They could create chances for him. Toney is a finisher. He knows where the goal is. He could do a job with quality players around him.”
