Newcastle United backed to seal deal for Allan Saint-Maximin replacement after update – pundit
Paul Robinson has backed Newcastle United to make a January move for Christian Pulisic in light of the winger’s performances at the World Cup.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Eddie Howe’s side need to sign another winger as they “cannot rely on Allan Saint-Maximin to be fully fit.”
The Magpies are in the market for a left-winger ahead of the January transfer market.

According to the Daily Mail (27 November), Newcastle, Man United and Arsenal are all chasing Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic.
The 24-year-old has impressed at the World Cup although USA were knocked out by the Netherlands on Saturday (3 December).
Pulisic’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until the end of June 2024.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “They cannot rely on Allan Saint-Maximin to be fully fit.
“[Miguel] Almiron looks like a different player so they are sorted on the left-hand side. Hopefully his form continues.
“Pulisic has impressed me in the World Cup. He has been playing with a bit of freedom.

“Look, it has not worked out for him at Chelsea but he is still a top player. We have seen it in flashes at Chelsea. He just needs a run of games I think.
“He would be a very good option for Newcastle. Eddie Howe has already showed that he can get the best out of players. His man-management is excellent. I think it would be a good fit.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed there are ‘so many unanswered questions’ as Newcastle United owners set up ‘blockade’.
