Newcastle United backed to sign Sven Botman as player reveals ‘talks underway’ – pundit
Newcastle United can beat AC Milan to the signing of Sven Botman following fresh quotes from the defender.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about who the 22-year-old should sign for.
Speaking to Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad on 2 June, Botman revealed “talks are underway” as he intends to leave Lille this summer.

He also confirmed Newcastle and AC Milan are “interested” in signing him but refused to go into further detail.
The Magpies tried to sign Botman during the January transfer window and they remain keen on him this summer.
Kenny insists Newcastle can beat AC Milan to his signature despite the Italian giants being able to offer Champions League football.
“It depends on whether Botman wants to play in the Premier League,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It is the best league going. It’s whether you want Champions League with AC Milan or the project at Newcastle and the bigger picture.
“I can see him being tempted but it will be interesting to see if he chooses Newcastle over AC Milan.
“It would be interesting if he picked Newcastle, you have to say that.”

Botman made 32 appearances for Lille in all competitions during the 2021-22 season.
He also struggled with injuries to his groin and hamstring, causing him to miss 14 games across the campaign.
In other news, Newcastle United have been tipped to ‘spend big’ on a goal machine after an update on Hugo Ekitike.
