Newcastle United backed to strike Joao Pedro deal imminently after source’s update – pundit
Newcastle United will sign Joao Pedro as the club readies a fresh offer.
That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ attempts to sing a new attacker.
On Wednesday, sources told Football Insider that Newcastle United are ready to submit a new bid for Pedro of £25million plus add-ons.

Newcastle have failed to bolster their attacking options this summer with only Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Matt Targett arriving.
However, McLeish is backing this deal to get done.
“Joao Pedro, again, he is one with potential,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“He would be going to a bigger team, better team with better players. They have been linked with a lot of players with this profile this summer.
“This seems to just be the latest one. If a bid of that much is going in then they are serious and they do want this guy.
“Newcastle’s transfer business has been pretty good since the takeover so you have to trust that this is the right guy.
“Watford are in no rush to sell though, we’ll see what happens but you would back Newcastle to get this one done rather quickly.”

Pedro scored four goals in 29 games last season but opened his account on the first day of the new Championship campaign (1 August).
Chris Wood and Callum Wilson are currently Newcastle’s only senior striking options.
