Newcastle United ‘boxed in’ by Anthony Gordon’s agent as Bayern Munich deal ‘sewn up’
Newcastle United have been “boxed in” by Anthony Gordon’s agent as the winger closes in on a move to Bayern Munich.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider he believes the England international’s transfer is likely to already be “sewn up”.
It has been reported Gordon has agreed terms with the Bundesliga giants as he looks to seal a move away from St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe left the 25-year-old on the bench for the third game in a row as his side secured a 3-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday (17 May).
Newcastle have set a £75million asking price on Gordon’s head, but club chiefs could be forced to accept a lower offer if they wish to avoid another Alexander Isak situation.

Bayern are the clear favourites to sign Gordon as they look to strengthen their attacking options this summer.
The winger has also been linked with Premier League clubs over the past few months, but a move to Germany is now edging closer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how much Newcastle could receive for Gordon once the transfer window reopens.
“They’re in a weak position on the deal anyway because it’s looked like he’s going to Bayern Munich come what may for a while now,” said Borson.
“Newcastle will be boxed in by his agent and by Bayern, and they’ll ultimately accept whatever is reasonable.
“But that’s not quite as much as they want, so it’ll be £60-65m, plus an add-on.”
Why Newcastle are disappointed about Gordon joining Bayern Munich
Borson insisted there will be disappointment at Newcastle that a bidding war now seems unlikely for Gordon after Bayern have stolen a march on the other interested parties.
“We know the direction of travel and how these deals work,” said Borson.
“But from Newcastle’s perspective, it’s going to be disappointing because they won’t be able to have a bidding war with anybody else that might want to.
“I suspect the deal is sewn up and it’s just a matter of time.”
Newcastle signed Gordon in a deal worth up to £45m from Everton in January 2023.
The attacker has since gone on to register 39 goals and 28 assists in 152 appearances for Howe’s side, including 17 strikes and five assists this season.
