Kieran Maguire: Al-Rumayyan has ‘five-year plan’ as Newcastle supremo’s appointment confirmed
New Newcastle United director Yasir Al-Rumayyan likely has a “five-year” plan to transform the club on and off the pitch.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Al-Rumayyan’s now-official role at St. James’ Park.
A Companies House update filed last Thursday (16 December) confirmed the 55-year-old’s appointment as chairman earlier this month.

Al-Rumayyan, one of the public faces of the £305million Newcastle takeover in October, is governor of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.
Maguire predicts that the Harvard Business School graduate will use his industry smarts to ensure PIF’s ambitions with Newcastle are fulfilled.
“He’s an experienced business player,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“PIF don’t want to waste money at Newcastle. They want to see that progress is being made both off the field and on in terms of the development of the club.
“He will be reporting back to PIF to see the progress of that strategy. That will be a large part of his role at Newcastle.
“They will have a five-year plan of where they want to be and he will be benchmarking the club’s progress against expectations.“

This site revealed last Friday (17 December) that Newcastle have agreed a short-term deal to bring in Nick Hammond as a transfer consultant.
The Tyneside club are 19th in the Premier League and January recruitment could be vital if they are to escape relegation this term.
In other news, pundit is “sure” Lucas Digne wants to sign for Newcastle United after “great” update on talks.
