Finance guru: Newcastle could be about to spend ‘£100m’ amid ‘world-class’ investment reveal
Newcastle United could spend up to £100million on a “world-class” new training complex.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about PIF’s grand plans on Tyneside.
Mike Ashley was accused of chronic underspending on infrastructure at Darsley Park during his 14-year St James’ Park premiership.

Newcastle big wig Mehrdad Ghodoussi told The Athletic last Saturday (26 February) that “we’re currently looking at sites” for a new training base.
He claimed that it could take up to three years to settle on a location and build a new complex from scratch.
Plumley predicts that the Magpies could follow in the footsteps of Leicester City and sanction a nine-figure outlay for a state-of-the-art facility.
“You can look to invest in infrastructure because it is exempt from FFP,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“In terms of rough figures, Leicester’s new training ground cost about £100m. That’s a recent ballpark.
“Other clubs have invested anything from £10m to £50m. Wolves and Southampton made big changes and they were around that mark.
“The Etihad development is £200m, but Man City are on a different level. It is a campus as well as a training base, which makes a difference.
“I think the Leicester one is the best example of a brand new build like Newcastle want.
“So in today’s market, you probably are talking £100m for a world-class development. It depends on how far the club wants to push this.”

Ghodoussi, who was interviewed alongside fellow Magpies co-owner Amanda Staveley, also outlined plans to expand St James Park.
Newcastle are currently 14th in the Premier League after a seven-match undefeated run.
