Newcastle United duo react to Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson’s post

Elliot Anderson received reactions from two of his former teammates after the Nottingham Forest star took to social media with a new update.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s midfield star replaced Jobe Bellingham for the final 20 minutes at The Hawthorns as Lee Carsley’s side secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Portugal on Monday 24 March.

The 22-year-old was joined by the likes of Tottenham’s Archie Gray, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Man City gem James McAtee, though it was Hayden Hackney, Ethan Nwaneri, Omari Hutchinson and Jaden Philogene with the goals.

Fabio Silva and Carlos Forbs attempted to trigger a comeback, but with England’s cavalry helping to see out the friendly win, it was a simple challenge for Elliot’s side to overcome.

Taking to Instagram [25 March], Anderson posted images of himself from England Under-21s victory, simply captioned by the England flag and a mystery ‘8’ ball.

Joined by Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been linked with Man United, Newcastle duo Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier liked the post after the young Three Lions’ resounding win at The Hawthorns.

Football Insider verdict

Anderson is one of the players snubbed by Thomas Tuchel for the England first team, but given his lack of minutes during the international break, his club manager will be ecstatic.

Having started 24 of Forest’s 29 league matches so far this season, the midfielder has been a key component of Espirito Santo’s success, lining him up alongside Nicolas Dominguez.

Many supporters felt Elliot Anderson deserved an England call-up.

The Reds have a real possibility of qualifying for Champions League football this term, sitting third in the Premier League table and five points clear of fourth-place Chelsea, though that could change very quickly.

Chris Wood’s potential injury has caused concern back at Forest, and with Murillo likely to feature for Brazil against Argentina before the two-week break ends, the manager could be left without some of his biggest stars.

Forest will be prepared for a tough end-of-season run-in, but with some players not returning to The City Ground at full fitness, there could be some late bumps in the road.
