Newcastle United fans told ‘get used to it’ after ‘amazing’ development in last 24 hours – expert
Newcastle United fans must get used to seeing their stars playing for top sides like Brazil.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Bruno Guimaraes impressed for his country.
Guimaraes, 24, came off the bench to register an assist as Brazil beat Chile 4-0 on Thursday (24 March).
He has now made five appearances for his national side.
McAvennie has told Newcastle fans to get used to seeing their players playing for sides like Brazil.
“It’s an amazing thing to see as a Newcastle fan,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“You better get used to it as well because this is only going to happen more and more.
“Newcastle are going to have top players joining the club who will go away during the international and play for top sides.
“It raises the profile of Newcastle as well because I’m sure Bruno’s teammates will be asking what it’s like.
“They had probably never heard of Newcastle until a few months ago and that’s no disrespect to the club.
“It’s a sign of things changing. Who would have thought Newcastle would have a Brazil international in their squad a few months ago?
“Like I said, those fans need to get used to it.”

The Brazilian has now made eight appearances for the Magpies and scored one goal.
His flicked effort against Southampton on 10 March was nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award on Thursday (24 March).
In other news, pundit claims one Magpies ace is “on borrowed time” after a source’s transfer update.
