Newcastle United handed major transfer boost as training ground pictures emerge – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Newcastle United are set boost their transfer hopes this summer by redeveloping the training ground.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted having top-class facilities could “sway the mind” of players into joining the club.

Images of bulldozers at the Magpies’ training ground on Monday (13 June) have been relayed on Twitter, with the Chronicle reporting work is underway on both the main building and training pitches.

Newcastle are reportedly having a significant extension built that will hold revamped physio and sports science facilities, changing rooms, kitchen, players’ lounge and hydro pools.

The report claims Eddie Howe is delighted at the work as he looks to entice players to join the club.

Hutton insisted new facilities could prove a decisive factor in the transfer window.

“I think in this day and age, you need good facilities,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“Especially when you think about recovery, this is the place where players spend most of their time throughout the week. It has to be good.

“As well, if you’re trying to get a player into the club and you show him the stadium and training ground and it’s all top stuff, you’re a club that’s progressing, moving forward and wanting to be an elite team, you need all this. That can sway a player’s mind into signing or staying away.

“I think it was about time they developed the training ground. You think about the kids coming through. They’ll want to sign, they’ll want to be part of it with the best facilities, best training pitches. It’s going to make them better.

“It’s a good thing for the young players, new players and everybody involved.”
