Newcastle United midfielder tipped for axe as Bruno Guimaraes pictures emerge pre-Wolves – pundit
Bruno Guimaraes will start for Newcastle United against Wolves on Friday night.
That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s game time this year.
Guimaraes was replaced by Jonjo Shelvey in the starting lineup on Sunday as the Magpies were thrashed 5-1 by Spurs.

The Brazil international had started Newcastle’s previous three Premier League fixtures.
As pictured by club media (5 April), Guimaraes trained ahead of the visit of Wolves on Friday.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Guimaraes game time, Phillips said: “It’s no surprise that he is being given time to settle in.
“He is being eased in gently. I am not going to question Eddie Howe for that even though they were poor against Tottenham.
“Three losses on the bounce is a concern but I think the Spurs result was more down to the quality of the opposition. Spurs were on fire. It was a bad day at the office for Newcastle and they need to hold their hands up and go and try and win the next game.
“Howe knows what he’s doing. They will be fine.
“I’m sure Guimaraes will get plenty more minutes between now and the end of the season. I expect him to start against Wolves.
“He is a player who excites the crowd at St. James’. They need that result on Friday so I think we’ll see him from the start.”
