Newcastle United must step up Jarrod Bowen interest after concerning Jacob Murphy display

Newcastle United played out yet another concerning performance on Sunday as they drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

Eddie Howe’s side were unable to overcome a Forest side who were battered 4-0 against Aston Villa on Thursday.

The hosts would have been low on confidence and fatigued, and the result only summed up how poor the Magpies have been in recent weeks.

One of the worst players was Jacob Murphy, who struggled to do anything of note in attack.

As a result, an improvement is needed, and Newcastle have to up their interest in Jarrod Bowen.

Jarrod Bowen would be perfect Jacob Murphy upgrade at Newcastle United

With the exception of the Brighton and Hove Albion match, Murphy has struggled for weeks at Newcastle.

According to Fotmob on 11 May, Murphy was terrible against Forest; he completed only 67 per cent of his attempted passes, failed to create a single chance, did not complete a single dribble or cross, and he was dispossessed twice.

Enough is now enough, and Howe has to find an upgrade for his right wing.

Given their current links to Bowen, Newcastle have to up their interest in the West Ham star and look to make an approach.

The England international has been excellent in a poor team for years, and will instantly add goals and assists to the right flank.

This season alone, he has scored eight times and picked up 10 assists, despite the Hammers currently sitting 18th in the Premier League table.

If not, it will be a massive missed opportunity for the Magpies, especially if West Ham are relegated come the end of the season.

What are Newcastle’s summer transfer window plans?

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle could oversee a mass exodus this summer.

As many as seven players could leave St James’ Park as Howe looks to rebuild his squad.

Newcastle’s business in the last summer transfer window was no doubt a massive failure, which has ultimately helped contribute to this disappointing campaign.

It remains to be seen if the Magpies will be able to improve upon this next summer, or if it will be yet another poor few months of comings and goings.
