Newcastle United news: Allan Saint-Maximin backed to sign for giants – expert
Frank McAvennie has backed Allan Saint-Maximin to join Inter Milan if he leaves Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Saint-Maximin’s exit depends on what role Eddie Howe wants him to play in the side.
The 26-year-old’s current contract runs until 2026 after signing an extension in 2020.
According to the Daily Mail (3 April), Inter are keen on a move for the winger during the summer window and sent scouts to watch him in the Magpies’ 2-0 win over Man United last weekend (2 April).
Sevilla and AC Milan attempted a loan move for Saint-Maximin in the summer but Inter are believed to be keen on a permanent move in the summer.
The Frenchman has made 20 Premier League appearances for Newcastle this season and has been in the starting lineup for 11 of those matches.
He has scored one goal and provided five assists in those outings.
When asked if joining Inter Milan would be a good move for Saint-Maximin, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think so, it could be happening.
“It depends on how the manager sees him. He left him out for a bit but we know what kind of talent he has got.

“But the manager wants to play him in a certain position and he is obviously buying into what the manager is telling him. It is just the basics he is doing but he is doing them well.
“That is something that the whole of Newcastle are doing at the moment.“
