Revealed: Newcastle United to spend £75m as new transfer details confirmed
Newcastle United owe nearly £75million in outstanding transfer instalments, Football Insider analysis shows.
The club released their 2021-22 accounts last Saturday (1 March), detailing a £77.5m loss for the financial year.
The deficit is partly due to the owners’ investment in new players during the January window, with Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier joining for a total of £90m.
That outlay proved money well spent as Eddie Howe comfortably steered the Magpies towards Premier League survival, and they have hit dizzy new heights this season.
The cost of that splurge is accounted for in the 2021-22 financial results – Newcastle owe £74.7m to other clubs, with £52.1m due within one year.
That is one of the largest totals outside the so-called ‘Big Six’ and
It also represents a dramatic upswing on the previous financial year when Newcastle owed nothing in outstanding transfer instalments.
The bill will likely rise again when the time comes to release their 2022-23 results after PIF sanctioned a £162m investment in new signings.

However, revenue – which was up by £40m on the previous season in 2021-22 – will also continue to soar as the club reaps the rewards of an ambitious new commercial strategy.
The club is on course to hit £40m in commercial income in 2022-23, and a new front-of-shirt sponsor – which will be announced this summer – could add another £10m to that figure.
